Le Belge Dirk Huyghe occupe une place à part dans l’histoire du Sun Trip : il fait partie des rares à avoir bouclé les trois grands Sun Trips de 2013, 2015 et 2018, et il est reparti en 2021.

En 2013, il a terminé sans panneau solaire après un incendie dans sa remorque. En 2015, il a roulé avec son ami Jan, et en 2018 il a rejoint Canton en 77 jours, neuvième au général, avec son ami Peter puis avec Daniel Jenni.

Son vélo est un Santos Travelmaster 3+ avec moteur Crystalyte, batterie 48 V 20 Ah et remorque monoroue de 300 W de solaire signée Project-Zero. Il partage les films de ses voyages sur Vimeo.
