Maren Herb – A Converted Bike That Fits on the Train

About this project

Not every solar bike has to be a race machine. Maren Herb from Germany converted a standard bicycle with a kit: a 250 W rear hub motor, a 36 V 621 Wh battery and two 60 Wp panels on the rack whose angle she can adjust to catch the sun.

The best part: the bike can be disassembled in 20 minutes back to normal size, so it fits on the train. She built it in 2025 and has ridden 3,500 km without a technical problem. Weight: 34 kg. She rode the Sun Trip Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes 2026.
